How Verto uses cookies and similar technology
We use cookies and similar technology to provide a better experience, improve our services and understand how visitors engage with our websites and apps. This notice explains why we do this and tells you how to prevent or limit our use of these technologies. If you have any questions please contact us at dpo@verto.co.
About cookies
Cookies are small text files that are downloaded and stored by your browser on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies contain a unique identifier that allows our website to recognize your device. They hold information regarding your activity, preferences, and choices made on our site, which may be transmitted back to us.
Cookies serve several purposes: they may be essential for a website's proper operation (essential cookies), enhance performance (performance cookies), improve your browsing experience on our website (functional cookies), and facilitate advertising (advertising cookies). These functions are further detailed below.
Essential cookies
Our website needs some cookies to function properly. These cookies are necessary to manage our website and provide services you have requested and to maintain the security and integrity of our service.
Although these cookies cannot be disabled by us, you have the option to configure your browser to block them or notify you when they are used. Please note, however, that blocking these cookies may impair the proper functioning of our website.
Performance cookies
Also known as ‘analytical cookies’, we use these cookies to count visits to our website, know where website traffic is coming from, see how visitors move through our website and to work out the popularity of each page. They give us the information we need to improve our website. We use them for research purposes to improve our products and services and to understand user behaviour and to improve performance.
Functional cookies
We use these cookies to remember the choices you make and to tailor our services to those choices, such as remembering your chosen language. They also allow us to provide enhanced features on our website. Functional cookies may be set by us or by third parties whose services we have added to our website.
Advertising cookies
We utilize third-party services to manage our advertising. These services enable us to display advertisements on our own platform and on other websites, focusing on content that may be of interest to you, and to evaluate the success of our advertising campaigns. Consequently, after visiting our website, you might encounter advertisements for our services on various other sites.
These cookies operate by assigning a unique identifier to your browser and device. This information is then used to create a profile of your interests, which allows us to serve you personalized, relevant advertisements across the internet. If you choose to disable these cookies, you will still see our advertisements on the internet, but they will not be tailored or targeted specifically to you.
Similar technology we use
We use technologies that, like cookies, are used to collect information to help us understand how people use our website and apps and how we can improve them and keep them secure and running smoothly.
Web beacons
Also known as ‘pixels’ or ‘tags’, these are small images or code placed on webpages and may also be embedded in adverts and emails. They allow us to determine whether you performed a specific action, for example when you landed on a specific page, interacted with an ad or opened an email. We use them to measure interactions with our marketing communications and promotions, as well as to improve our website.
Software development kits (SDKs)
Some SDKs contain features that work similarly to cookies and trackers, but operate in the mobile app environment where cookies and trackers cannot function as effectively. We install SDKs (basically small pieces of code) of our service providers to perform functions similar to those performed by cookies described above, such as monitoring the performance of our app, keeping it secure, detecting and preventing fraud and analysing how people use our services.
The information we collect
We collect information about your use of and interactions with our website, apps and services. This includes the pages and sections of the website or app you interacted with, the date and time of your interaction, the websites you come from and navigate to, your browser and device information and your IP address.
Typically, this information alone cannot be used to identify you. If, however, the information is used to personalise your experience, it may be possible to identify you and, therefore, may be considered personal data under the applicable local law and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Who places cookies on my device?
Generally speaking, cookies can be classed as either first or third party: first party cookies are set by the website that you are visiting whilst third party cookies are set by someone other than the website you are visiting. We utilise both first and third party cookies.
Lifespan of cookies
The lifespan of a cookie on your device is determined by its type: "persistent" or "session." "Session" cookies are temporary and are removed as soon as you close your browser. In contrast, "persistent" cookies remain on your browsing device until they are intentionally deleted or reach their set expiration date.
